Communicating With Your Loved Ones and Co-Workers

Did you know words shape a destiny? They truly do hold the power of life and death! Do I mean death literally, no. Words we speak will either bring life to our spirit and emotions or death to our spirit and emotions. That is a pretty powerful statement. Let me explain.

Sweet spoken words carry within a power that affects us. It builds us up, makes us feel good, and makes us feel valued. Even when we have a hard message to convey, we can do it in a way that gives us the desired result we are looking for.

Words lead to a destination!  Because of this we must speak in a way that conveys respect, gentleness, and humility.  Think of a time when harsh or negative words were spoke to you.  How did it make you feel?  Here may be why! 

A single harsh or negative word can increase the activity in our amygdala, the fear center of our brain. Positive words can alter the expression of genes, strengthening areas in our frontal lobes and promotes the brains cognitive functioning.   This is how words can lead to a destination. 

How we think and believe about ourselves is a journey we all embark on, we can make it an exciting road to travel or a pain filled road depending on our words that we speak and words spoken to us.

If there is a difficult person in your life, family member or co-worker, you can literally change the direction of the relationship by intentionally speaking genuine words that will lift them up! 

Depending on how difficult the person is this may be hard to do.  The more you practice it the easier it becomes.  Changing how we speak to people is like creating a new habit, it takes awhile to naturally do it instead of having to think about it.

If words shape a destiny, if words are energy, and if words affect our brain which leads to behavior and decisions, what words spoken or spoken to you has brought you to where you are today? 

Learn to intentionally speak with respect, gentleness, and harmony and learn to accept or reject words spoken to you in the same regard.

Words can change your life!  This is literally a powerful and earth-moving statement! 

Words change relationships, our demeanor, our entire system of beliefs, and even our businesses and careers! 

Go out and make a difference in someone's life today, speak an encouraging word and I bet you get a smile!!  Even more than that you will have planted a seed that will be watered down the road!
